Patchwerk DPS

Pre-Ulduar, I used to love running Naxx 25, even after getting all the loot from there that I needed.  Most people used to compare their Patchwerk DPS with others to /increase epeen; I used to compare my Patchwerk DPS with my own, from previous encounters.  Obviously, my DPS used to increase weekly, and when I formed <iRaid> I had a weekly contest going to help motivate us getting the >3min Patchwerk achievement.  Anyone who topped me on the meters would get some gold from me.

Anyways – since Ulduar came out, we completely dropped Naxx from our raids, and Saturday was the first time I had run Naxx in such a long time.  It was a full PuG, and some people died stupidly during the fight, but all in all, it wasn’t a bad kill.  My previous Patchwerk record was 5.9k DPS, so I was looking to see how much I could pump out in my T8, along with a few new epic gems.

Anyways, if you haven’t noticed, I do enjoy looking over my parses and seeing how everything works together.  I like seeing uptimes for trinkets, Starfall, NG, Eclipse, etc, and enjoy seeing what is helping me DPS more.

All in all, I wasn’t displeased with my DPS on Patch — I thought I was going to maintain 7k throughout the fight, but near the end I hit a decent lag spike and it may have messed me up a little.

DAMAGE

moonkin-patchwerk-dps
  • 2 minute, 58 second (178 seconds total) kill — 6796 DPS
  • Starfall was applied 3 times during the fight — with my gear apparently does 12,514 damage to single targets
  • I had Insect Swarm up on Patchwerk for 144s/178s = 81% IS DoT uptime
  • I had Moonfire up on Patchwerk for 148s/178s = 81% MF DoT uptime
  • Since I got 4pc T8, I have been MUCH better about keeping IS on bosses.  I am considering dropping the Starfire glyph and glyphing Insect Swarm again.

BUFFS

moonkin-patchwerk-dps-2
  • Trinkets uptime were at 99%, and Nature’s Grace had an 80% uptime.  Nice.
  • The Tailoring Lightweave Embroidery (295 sp for 15 seconds) proc’ced 3 times, for a total of 25% uptime.
  • 4Pc T8 – Elune’s Wrath, proc’ced 5 times.
  • Eclipse was up a total of 10 times in nearly 3 mintes, nearly 84% uptime (this is NOT the effective uptime since my swapping was not perfect).

CONCLUSION

Really, the only take-away I have from looking at this parse is the fact that I really should Glyph Insect Swarm.  Pre-3.2, I loved the Starfire glyph, since, in essence (remember, no math :P ), it was giving me 3 extra Moonfire ticks in exchange for nothing.  Since each MF tick averages around 1500 (glyphed, of course), that results in around 4500 damage, for free.  With the Eclipse changes in 3.2, the benefit of this glyph is essentially halved.  Looking at my parses for this sit-and-nuke fight, I think it is safe to say that I am going to exchange my Glyph of Starfire for the Glyph of Insect Swarm. It’s been great having my Glyph of Starfall, so I see no need to drop that one.

Other than that, the parse looks pretty normal, but let me know if you guys want to take a peek for yourself – I can send you the link (I am a little opposed to making my guild WWS public).

The parse looks a little off. It says you only hit 9 times with Starfire for over 500k damage. I'm not gonna do the math, but that's over 50k a pop. Because of that error, it's difficult to run any kind of analysis on the numbers.

Yeah — I've been noticing that too on a lot of my parses. For example, for Maexxna, it says I hit 11 times totaling 300k+ damage with Starfire. I doubt I'm hitting 30k Starfires :P

Still, the damage done looks to be about right, and I don't think its an error with my parsing, maybe WWS has problems reading my logs?

I might consider switching to WMO, but I heard its REALLY slow.

I've heard good things about WorldofLogs, but it's a bit more difficult to navigate.

Please tell me, how can you make starfire crit ratio of 80%? My moonkin have lvl 200-226 gear and I am not able to go over 40%..

From the looks of it, the combatlog is a little messed up. Still, with Eclipse, talents, iFF, and an ele shaman, and either T7 4pc bonus or T8 2pc bonus you should be looking at over 40% crit on your Starfire.

    Strange?
