New Computer, Lagging, Lower DPS, Videos

I got a “new” computer over the weekend.  It was a computer my dad had purchased to replace one he thought was broken.  I fixed the computer he was going to replace in about 5 minutes, and asked if I could have the computer he had just bought.  The new computer I have isn’t awful, and is definitely better than playing on a 13.3 inch Macbook laptop.  The processor is pretty standard (Intel Core2 Duo or something), only 2GB RAM, and some other stuff.  Its nowhere near what I would have purchased on my own, but once again, it beats the laptop.  I purchased a nice 22 inch ASUS monitor to go with the computer, and the game looks great.

However, I am lagging more with my new computer

Not sure how this is happening, but I am experiencing some pretty bad lag with my new computer.  I tried the RegEdit latency hack, and so far it doesn’t seem to have helped.  I’m not running a shitty connection, we just upgraded my Cable internet to FIOS fiber optic, and I’m starting to think it may be the wireless router settings.  I’m going to give Verizon a call tonight/tomorrow, and see if they can help fix.

The only reason I care I was lagging is because it affected my DPS severly in a 5-man.  I can usually hit 3k without even worrying about my Eclipse procs on 5-mans, and without AoEing.  If its a tank/spank 5 man boss, I’ve hit up to 5k DPS (without heroism).  Still, last night, I was struggling to hit 2k-2.5k, I was lagging to hell.  I need to fix this ASAP.

I took advantage of the new computer to upgrade my UI

My UI on my laptop was pretty simple.  I used the default UI for the longest time ever before using X-Perl, and have never looked back at the decision because X-Perl is simply amazing.  Here’s what I remember downloading last night, some of which I had before, some new:

  • Carbonite Questhelper
  • Cartographer
  • Skinner
  • Scrolling Combat Text
  • Deadly Boss Mods
  • Squawk and Awe
  • X-Perl
  • Titan Panel
  • Bartender 4
  • Proximo
  • Some Map Addon that makes it a square

All in all, Bartender was probably the biggest change to my UI I’ve made in awhile, and if I don’t get used to it soon, I’ll probably revert back to my old UI.  I had trouble making it switch bars when I was in NE form vs. Moonkin form (I only really need 1 bar for damage spells.  I’ve put up a screenshot to my UI on my WoW Screenshots page, and here is the image below.  I wanted my UI to look like those very clean, spacious and pro UI’s but I’m not happy with it so far.  Feedback is VERY appreciated.

My guild might be focusing more on progression again

If you recall in one of my previous posts, I mentioned some problems I was having with my guild.  I raised my concerns to an officer, who I assume brought it up with the GM because they are *trying* to make some changes (mainly – one speed Naxx run with geared players, pushing towards Malygos + Sarth 3D weekly, etc).  I was initially going to GQuit last week, but I’m going to give them another shot and see if they can fix their problems.

Few Moonkin Videos

I uploaded a few videos to YouTube the other today but forgot to put them up here, links are below.  I highly recommend you click the Watch in High Quality button, because otherwise, they look like total crap.  The one of us downing KT on 10-man is really old, before I was hit-capped, etc.

After looking this up a little bit more online, I am going to definitely look into Spartan UI, looks more like what I am looking for…

    Any other tips?
