March 2009 Moonkin.info Blog Stats

So, I usually try to be transparent with you guys and let you know how the blog is doing, how many people are visiting, and how much made it has generated.  If you don’t know, the ads on the sidebar and header are there by choice; the end goal is to maybe hook up my readers with some fun contests, t-shirts, or something like that in the near future.

Any any rate, here’s a March summary:

  • Unique Visitors: 15,786
  • Page Views: 43,088
  • RSS Subscribers: 190 (today it shows only 90, weird)
  • Money Generated: $12.39
  • Total Number of Posts: 54
  • Total Number of Comments: 465 (165 spam)

Unique Visitors + Page Views

Thanks guys for continuing to read my blog, I feel I have built a pretty decent readerbase.  Knowing that people are reading what I am writing is comforting.  Below is a graphical representation of unique visitors in March.  It will show you where most of my people are coming from (ie – 58.03% of people find Moonkin.info via search engines), what websites are sending me visitors, etc.

RSS Subscribers

For some reason, this number really fluctuates heavily.  I am not sure why, but yesterday, Feedburner showed 190 RSS subscribers, and today it only shows 90.  I really hope 100 of you just took me off your RSS overnight!  At any rate, the graph below will show you guys the fluctuation of people subscribing to view my content from their own RSS reader (or in their email!).

Money Generated

As I mentioned earlier, there are ads on this site.  Feel free to block them out with Ad-Block for Firefox, especially if they annoy you.  The advertisements help offset the cost of my hosting plan ($10/month), since I really don’t want to swap over to a free blogging platform such as Blogger, I would lose too much customization that I have put into this blog.  Anyways, I made $12 and some change last month, so we are cutting it close :)   Below is the screenshot of March earnings for this particular site.  I had to censor out the information in the middle, it is a violation of the Google TOS to show that information.

Total Posts/Comments

Number of posts done is merely a reflection of how much I am writing, and if I am being consistent enough.  I could do better, but there is only so much one can talk about with moonkins — which I why I really appreciate it if people would email me questions they’d like answered! (moonkinblog [at] gmail [dot] com).

Comments, on the other hand, make me happy.  I get an email each time a comment is posted, and I try to reply each and every one.  Commenting makes this moonkin happy, knowing that you guys reading actually exist and have stuff to add!

Conclusion

All in all, I am happy in the direction this blog is going.  It is growing pretty rapidly, and what I lack from other bloggers linking to me, I gain from a lot of visitors from Search Engines.

Sometimes I don’t have very many moonkin-related topics to blog about, so please, don’t hesitate to email or comment a question!  I would love to answer them.  You guys should expect a contact form in the near future to send me questions.  It will be on the sidebar.

In reference to this comment and this blog:

“RSS Subscribers: 190 (today it shows only 90, weird)”

I am currently subscribed to your blog via Omea and just received this article today (4/9/2009). I’m not sure if there’s any reason for this, but that may explain the sudden drop.

    Cheers!

About the fluctuating numbers – FeedBurner has announced that they’re having stats issues with something on Google’s end regarding reader counts, so don’t fret – your readers are still there, just not all of them are accounted for. This happened to me and a LOT of other bloggers in the past week.

    @ Attica –

This article was supposed to auto-post itself a few days ago, but for some reason didn’t work. It was psted today.

    @ Icedragon –

I thought as much when I saw like 4 other blogs RSS subscribers halved. It still worries me sometimes :)

    Thanks for stopping by guys,

I’m cheezing out with blogspot, but you might consider webhost4life.com. I’ve used them for over three years for my business, and they’re a bit cheaper than $10/mth — about $5/mth for the first year and a little more after that (some dumb $10 renewal fee). Not a big savings, but just fwiw. Good php, asp, and mySQL support too.

I’m not affiliated, and would only stand to gain if I gave you some referral code that you used signing up.

Thanks for all the info. It’s been good to find a few new blogs since I returned to WoW to make up for the digital graveyard my old blogroll had become!

    @ Jalindrine –

Thanks for stopping by. The reason I stick with my host for $10/month is the flexibility of having a VPS. I can create accounts for new domains I buy in about 30 seconds, whereas most hosts for $5/mo only let you have like 1 domain, and if you can add another, it usually a pain in the ass.

If I do decide to switch, however, since they are kind of slow usually, I will drop you an email for your aff link. No reason people shouldn’t get money for referring others :)
